Northern Missouri got hit the hardest from the Ice Storm
Today, my family and I, headed to Trenton, Missouri to visit my wife's grandfather. On our trip from Kansas City, the kids and I sat in the back and watched movies has my wife drove the 2 hour trek ( She watched movies on the way back as I drove). As soon as we departed I-35 in Northern Missouri and started heading down a 2 lane highway to Trenton, MO., we all noticed the heavy tree damage. All of the small towns along the two lane highway had heavy tree damage. Some of the residents in the area we talked to said that many residents still had no electricity and probably will not have electricity for another week.
We thought that these people in Northern Missouri were really roughing it untill our return trip back to Kansas City. Has we headed back, my boys noticed people living under the bridges. Under a couple bridges there were 15-20 people with card board houses. The people kept warm by lighting fires in barrels.
At night the temp. gets down to the low 20's. Can you imagine living in a home with no heat or outside in a cardboard box?
