KU Jayhawks Win and Children's Mercy Hospital is a Winner, Cassie is OK
Soon after the Kansas Jayhawks just finished their second round thumping of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, my wife began yelling and my guest and I ran downstairs. My 14 month old daughter went from being a KU cheerleader to a sick child. She hurled her milk a couple of times so my wife wanted me to grab a couple things at the Gardner Wal-Mart to help our daughter out. After getting back from Wal-Mart, my daughter had gone from bad to worse. After spending the next few minutes on the phone with a nurse and witnessing the pain my daughter was in and describing it to the nurse as well as giving her my daughters vitals, the nurse asked me to get her to the hospital. Our trip to Children’s Mercy Hospital was an eventful ride which ended with the wait in the waiting room. During our wait, most of the other parents soon realized why we were checking in. When our daughters name was called up, we took her to the hospital room were she we were greeted by a nurse and a doctor. The hospital staff did some testing and ran a few x-rays. After spending hours in the hospital, the doctor informed us that our daughter had food poisoning. The doctor explained that food poisoning affects kids much harder and if they are not keeping fluids down, serious consequences can result. The food poisoning must have come from something we had out that day. If you have never been to Children’s Mercy Hospital, you are lucky. If you have been there, you have witnessed an awesome hospital staff that loves working with kids. Have you or someone in your family had food poisoning? Have you been to Children’s Mercy Hospital?
